Terms of Use
Last updated 8 October 2026
These terms apply to the Te Reo Makitaunu school portal at tereomakitaunu.online and the TRM Tests app (the “Service”), provided by Taimona Panapa, a sole trader in Aotearoa New Zealand (“we”, “us”). By registering a school or using an account you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
1. School accounts
- A school manager registers the school and is responsible for the people they add as teachers and students.
- The school confirms it has authority to add its staff and students and to share their names and email addresses with us for the purpose of the Service.
- Each account is for one person. Sharing an account is not allowed, and each account can be signed in on one device at a time — signing in elsewhere signs out the earlier device.
- Keep passwords private and tell us promptly if you think an account has been misused.
2. Licences and pricing
- Licences are annual and priced per seat: $15 per student and $200 per teacher per year, plus GST.
- Every 20 student seats include one teacher seat at no charge.
- The minimum annual licence is 20 student seats (which includes one teacher seat).
- Extra seats can be added during the year; they end on the school’s existing licence end date and are charged at the full annual rate.
- Renewing before the licence ends adds a year to the current end date.
- Prices are in New Zealand dollars. Current prices are on the pricing page; any change applies from the next renewal.
- Payment is made in advance by card through Stripe. Access to courses requires an active licence.
3. Refunds
Licences and seat top-ups are non-refundable once purchased, including if fewer students use the Service than were licensed. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at rangikaiata@tereomakitaunu.com and we will look into it.
Schools acquire the Service for the purposes of their business. To the extent permitted by law, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply, and the parties agree it is fair and reasonable that this is so. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
4. Acceptable use
You must not:
- access accounts, schools or data you are not authorised to access, or try to get around access controls or licence limits;
- copy, record, download, resell or publicly share course videos, quizzes or resources outside your school’s licensed use;
- interfere with the Service, overload it, or use automated tools to access it;
- upload anything unlawful, harmful or that you don’t have the right to share.
We may suspend accounts that breach these rules, and will tell the school manager where we can.
5. Course content
The Te Reo Makitaunu courses, videos, quizzes, resources and branding are owned by us or our licensors. The school’s licence lets its licensed teachers and students use them for teaching and learning during the licence period. We respect mātauranga Māori and ask that content be used with the same respect.
6. School data
Information the school and its members put into the Service remains theirs. We use it only to provide the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy. A school manager can ask us to export or delete the school’s data.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep the Service available and secure, but it may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may improve or change features; if a change significantly reduces what a school has paid for, we will tell the school manager and work with them on a fair outcome.
8. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to a school in any 12-month period is limited to the licence fees the school paid us in that period.
9. Ending the service
A school can stop using the Service at any time; its licence simply runs to its end date. We may end the Service for a school that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms. When a school’s account ends, we handle its data as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. General
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. We may update these terms; for significant changes we will notify school managers before they take effect.
